MP - Local schools win upgrade cash

Schools Minister David Laws MP and South Lakes MP Tim Farron have today announced that Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale and Arnside National CofE School will receive a major share of a £370 million school buildings fund.

Siemens grant will create jobs in South Cumbria - Farron

Twenty supply chain projects from across the country will benefit from a total of £67 million of government investment. It has been announced that this will include Siemens in Ulverston. South Lakes MP Tim Farron thinks this grant will help South Cumbria and South Lakeland has a real opportunity to grow its supply chain.

MP welcomes £138,000 for two local churches

Two local churches will be sharing £138,000 of funding from The Listed Places of Worship: Roof Repair Fund. The money is for urgent repairs to public places of worship across the UK. St Cuthbert's Church, Kentmere and The Church of St John the Evangelist, Levens will both benefit from the scheme.

Farron - Nearly 30,000 apprenticeships created in Cumbria

Figures released today by the Department for Business show that 29,250 apprenticeship placements have been created since 2010 in Cumbria. The information also shows that in the last six months 450 apprenticeship roles have been created in Westmorland. Local MP Tim Farron has hailed the news and said that this is a vital step on our way to 'creating better paid jobs in our area'.
