Two local churches will be sharing £138,000 of funding from The Listed Places of Worship: Roof Repair Fund. The money is for urgent repairs to public places of worship across the UK. St Cuthbert's Church, Kentmere and The Church of St John the Evangelist, Levens will both benefit from the scheme.

St Cuthbert's Church, Kentmere have been awarded £96,000 and The Church of St John the

Evangelist, Levens will receive £42,000. Overall, 55 cathedrals and hundreds of churches across England have benefited from the £20 million fund, which will ensure that these valuable national monuments remain in a good and safe state of repair in order to welcome the public.

These repairs will also prevent further deterioration of the fabric of these listed buildings, ensuring that they remain in good repair for generations to come.

Tim said: "Churches and other places of worship form an integral part of our communities in Cumbria. I'm sure the parishioners of Kentmere, Levens and the surrounding areas will be over the moon at the news that their churches will be receiving £138,000."
