Stop hospital ward closures

Local MP Tim Farron is campaigning to halt controversial plans by health bosses to close wards in Kendal and Barrow.

Under the proposals, Ward 6, a rehabilitation ward at Westmorland General, and the Abbey View palliative care ward at Furness General will be closed.

These decisions have been made with no consultation with the public.

Tim says: “I understand that the hospitals trust has been put under huge financial pressure by the previous Conservative Government. But that doesn’t change the impact these closures are going to have on an already overstretched social care system.

“We have protected our local hospital services before when we stand together as a community.”
