Farron welcomes business rate review

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that the government has launched the most wide-ranging review of national business rates in a generation - paving the way for changes to how businesses across England pay the tax. Tim has been calling for a review of business rates since 2013.

91% of Cumbrian 16 and 17 year olds in education, employment or training - MP

More than 91% of Cumbrian 16- and 17-year-olds were actively participating in education, employment or training at the end of December according to figures released by the Department for Education. Cumbria MP Tim Farron has welcomed these figures and pointed out the desperate need for funding for post-16 school transport for Cumbria.

MP: Unemployment is down 54% since 2010

Figures published by the House of Commons Library and Durham University show that since 2010, the unemployment rate in Westmorland & Lonsdale has fallen by 54.6%. Tim has thanked local businesses for their work in halving unemployment.
