Lib Dems - lack of access to gas grid leaves residents with higher bills

Figures released this week reveal that 32,000 households across Cumbria don't have access to the gas grid. Eden has the highest proportion of households that aren't connected to the grid in all of England. South Lakes MP Tim Farron and the Lib Dem candidate in Copeland Rebecca Hanson have called for more to be done to get households connected and tackle the high cost of fuel.

New data shows police cuts hitting front line

Figures released today reveal that 69 police officers and staff have been slashed from Cumbria Police's front line in the last year, representing 4% of the workforce. South Cumbria MP Tim Farron said this show that the government is overlooking Cumbria and can't be trusted to protect our police force.

NAO report shows need for Kendal Urgent Care Centre - Farron

A National Audit Office report published today (Thursday 26th Jan) has found that across the UK half a million ambulance hours were lost in 2015/16 due to turnaround times at A&E departments taking over 30 minutes. South Lakes MP Tim Farron has reiterated his call for an Urgent Care Centre at Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal, to help relieve this pressure.

Windermere Building Society branch set for closure

The Yorkshire Building Society's Windermere Branch is set to close under proposals announced today. South Lakes MP Tim Farron is due to meet the Chief Executive later this week, and will urge the building society to reverse this decision.

This week, local MP Tim Farron has signed the Holocaust Educational Trust's Book of Commitment, to pledge his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and to honouring those who were murdered during the Holocaust, as well as to pay tribute to the extraordinary survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people.
