Farmers Union of Wales address Hill Farming Group

Local MP, Tim Farron today chaired a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming which was addressed by Derek Morgan of the Farmers Union of Wales. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss many of the issues faced by uplands farmers in Wales, in addition to issues which effect farmers in other regions of the UK.

"Government plans on council houses would be bad for South Lakeland" - Farron

Following the Government's announcement today of plans to increase the number of people able to buy their council houses, local MP Tim Farron has given a guarded reaction. The Department of Communities and Local Government propose to allow people to buy as little as 10% of the value of their home to acquire the 'right to own' the property.

Low Sizergh Barn wins 'Best Rural Retailer' award

Local MP Tim Farron has praised Low Sizergh Barn farm shop in Kendal after the Countryside Alliance named it as one of the Best Rural Retailers in the 'Best Diversification' category. The shop, best known for its superb selection of cheeses, free range eggs and milk amongst other products is extremely popular in the local area.
