Tim Farron forward diary: 15th to 19th May

On Tuesday Tim will be attending a meeting of the Environmental Audit Committee. He will then go on to meet with constituents in Parliament, before meeting with Genworth Financials to discuss problems with a lack of affordable housing for first time buyers, and the role of mortgage insurance.

Supermarket profits soar as farmers suffer

Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming has today hit out at news of the annual profits of supermarket chain Sainsbury's rising 47% from £267 million to £380 million. The industry giant has seen sales jump to £18.5 billion while many of Britain's farmers are struggling to survive.

Farron presses Sport England for Berners pool support

Local MP, Tim Farron has today written to the Chief Executive of Sport England, Jennie Price asking for help in reopening the Berners swimming pool in Grange-over-Sands. The pool, which opened in 2007 as a community trust was forced to close last year because of financial problems. Mr Farron asked Sport England if they would meet with him to discuss ways in which the pool could be reopened.
