Farron gets behind the till to help Age Concern campaign for volunteers
Local MP Tim Farron has followed up his visit to the Kendal Age Concern shop with a call to local people to volunteer to work for the charity. Mr Farron spent part of last Friday helping out in the shop by serving customers and witnessed first hand the hard and rewarding work the volunteers do.
Age Concern's shops provide thousands of pounds of essential funds which enables them to provide care and information to some of the most vulnerable members of society. The shops rely on the great work done by volunteers to keep going, and Mr Farron is urging more people to get involved.
Mr Farron said:
"The work that Age Concern does is so important, and the shops are a vital part of the chain. I enjoyed working in the shop, the atmosphere is one of fun and enthusiasm and it would be great to see more people volunteering.
"It's very simple to help out, just pop into your local Age Concern store and offer your assistance, you will be very warmly welcomed!"
