Sustainable Communities Bill backed by local MP

Local MP, Tim Farron will be supporting the Sustainable Communities Bill in parliament on Friday, it is a Bill designed to, among other things put a stop to the government's plans to close large parts of the post office network. The Bill is returning to parliament this Friday and Tim will make a special effort to travel down from the constituency to back the Bill in its progress towards becoming law.

Farming Minister promises full Hill Farm Allowance consultation

Tim Farron, Liberal Democrat MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming has today received assurances from Lord Rooker, the Minister for Sustainable Farming and Food that the farming industry will be fully consulted on a replacement to the Hill Farm Allowance scheme.

Farron backs Carers Week 2007

Local MP Tim Farron is getting behind this year's Carers Week, 'My Life as a Carer' held from 11th to 17 June. Carers Week raises awareness of the UK's six million carers - people who look after a loved one who is ill, frail or disabled. 'My Life as a Carer' will focus on the impact caring can have on people's finances, career, relationships and health. Events will be taking place across the UK during the Week to help highlight the support and services that are available to carers, regardless of their age or background.

Forward Diary - 11 to 17 June 2007

On Tuesday Tim, as part of the Environmental Audit Committee will be examining the challenge of climate change. Afterwards Tim will be meeting with Simon Brooks from Network Rail to talk about the future of one of the railway footbridges in Grange, and will be asking Network Rail if they would be willing to assist in reinstating the bridge.

Farron welcomes 'Open Farm Sunday' in Parliament

Local MP Tim Farron has this week tabled a motion in parliament lending his support to 'Open Farm Sunday' on the 10th June. The initiative will see eight Cumbrian farms open their gates throughout June allowing people from as many different backgrounds and ages as possible to experience farm life.
