Local MP, Tim Farron has today written to the Chief Executive of Sport England, Jennie Price asking for help in reopening the Berners swimming pool in Grange-over-Sands. The pool, which opened in 2007 as a community trust was forced to close last year because of financial problems. Mr Farron asked Sport England if they would meet with him to discuss ways in which the pool could be reopened.

However, the Minister has yet to confirm whether the Cumbria Primary Care Trust will be in a similar situation as well. Mr Farron is now pursuing the Minister to give details of the additional funds available to the Primary Care Trust.
