Local MP backs police in pay dispute

Local MP Tim Farron has backed the police force in their dispute with the Government over a pay rise which was not back-dated, effectively resulting in a pay-cut for police officers. The Home Office and the police force have negotiated a 2.5% pay rise for September 2008, but are refusing to back-date it to September 2007, when the negotiations began.

Liberal Democrat MP and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hill Farming Tim Farron yesterday took Farming Minister Lord Rooker on a tour of some of the most rugged hill farm country in UK, a journey taking them from the Kentmere valley to Longsleddale, over the rough track that connects the two valleys. NFU officials, who arranged the trip and provided the transport, included Derek Lomax, NFU Group Secretary who also joined Tim and Lord Rooker on their tour.

PCT pressing ahead with CATS against advice of Department of

Local MP Tim Farron has queried the wisdom of the move by North Lancashire Primary Care Trust to press on with procuring Clinical Assessment, Treatment and Support centres, despite the statement from the Secretary of State for Health declaring that they are not value for money.
