Liberal Democrat MP Tim Farron will today table a parliamentary motion in the wake of England's disastrous end to their European championship qualifying campaign calling on the Football Association to reinstate the home internationals next summer and move to recruit a world class coach.

"Treasury mess shows HMRC overstretch" - Farron

Commenting on the news today that HM Revenue and Customs has lost the financial details of more than 20 million people, local MP Tim Farron drew attention to the fact that at this time the Treasury should be looking towards consistency, rather than consolidation of offices. Mr Farron has uncovered suggestions that the HMRC office in Kendal will be consolidated into a large regional office, meaning significant job losses and inconvenience for people using the existing office.

Farron Fights for Justice for Farmers

Tim Farron MP has written today to the Office of Fair Trading in the wake of the price fixing charges levelled at major supermarkets and dairy processors in the aftermath of the foot and mouth outbreak. Mr Farron, who recently backed the idea proposed by the Competition Commission of having a Supermarket Ombudsman, wrote to both the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Trade and Consumer Affairs and the Chief Executive of the OFT.

Local campaign becomes national law!

Local MP Tim Farron today attended a parliamentary ceremony to mark the passing into law of the Sustainable Communities Act. The Act, which was supported enthusiastically by the Tim Farron throughout its passage, was given Royal Assent recently.

18,000 local people put at risk by HMRC fiasco

Local MP Tim Farron has hit out at the Government today after it emerged that the details of almost 20,000 people in South Lakeland have been lost following the debacle of the CDs 'lost in the post'. Mr Farron has questioned the ability of the Government to successfully roll out an ID cards scheme, which would necessitate keeping the personal details of every person in Britain, if they cannot keep the details of child benefit recipients securely.

Farron issues rallying call to save under-threat post offices

Local MP Tim Farron is today issuing a petition to each of the 43 under-threat post offices in his constituency, as part of his campaign against the Government's planned raft of post office closures. Mr Farron is also urging local people to write to him regarding their local post office which he will then pass on to the regional Post Office Limited representative. It is hoped that this will show how much local people in the area use their post office.
