MP AND CUMBRIA TOURISM JOIN FORCES AGAINST VAT RISE TO PROTECT LOCAL HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY
Tim Farron MP and Cumbria Tourism have joined forces against the proposed rise in VAT. The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, lowered the rate to 12.5% to combat the effects of the pandemic but plans to return the rate to 20% in early April. Cumbria Tourism have discovered in a recent survey of their circa 2500 member businesses that the proposed VAT rise was the fourth biggest concern for members.

Scrapping of Covid tests: 6483 people in South Lakeland to face £500 "tax on caring"
The Liberal Democrats have warned that the scrapping of Covid lateral flow tests will slap South Lakeland with a £3,463,547 "tax on caring," with as many as 6,483 residents facing costs of over £500 a year to take regular tests and visit vulnerable relatives.
