Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed information released by Cumbria Intelligence Observatory that South Lakeland is the top place within the county for start-up businesses. Tim has said this news shows that our area is the 'start up hub' of Cumbria.

Cumbria is lagging behind on mental health - people deserve better
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has called on the NHS, councils and clinical commissioning groups within the county to do more on mental health. Tim has asked them to give mental health the same parity as physical health. He has also called on them to sign up to a national agreement of outcomes and expectations called the Crisis Care Concordat.

MP presses Prime Minister on second homes tax to save GP surgeries
South Lakes MP Tim Farron asked the Prime Minister to back his idea of a special rural fund to be created to protect rural services. The money would come from a 10% tax on second home owners.

5 years on from the Cumbrian floods - MP keeps pressing for better flood defences
Five years on from the 2009 Cumbrian floods that left many towns throughout our county deluged or underwater, South Lakes MP Tim Farron has praised communities for rebuilding and used the anniversary to press the government to do more on flood mitigation schemes.
