Farron calls for national dementia strategy

MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale Tim Farron spoke yesterday at a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia to back a new Inquiry into the failure to provide adequate training for people working in the care sector who deal with people with dementia. Mr Farron has also demanded a more cohesive national dementia strategy, after figures obtained by the Liberal Democrats revealed that more than 60% of people suffering from dementia remain undiagnosed.

Marine Bill is Farron's first legislative challenge as new Shadow Secretary

As the dust settles on last week's Queen's speech, local MP Tim Farron is squaring up to leading for the Liberal Democrats on the upcoming Marine and Coastal Access Bill as his first big legislative challenge in his new role as Shadow Secretary of State for DEFRA and has urged the Government to strike a proper balance between planning authorities and local commercial interests.

Farron plants for the future

Local MP Tim Farron today planted a tree in Staveley as part of an ongoing project in the South Lakes to help off-set the emissions of the Wheels to Work scheme which provides transport solutions to individuals struggling to find work opportunities.
