Young people make their voices heard at MP's youth forum

26 Nov 2008

Last week South Lakes MP Tim Farron ran another of his regular youth forums. The youth forum, which has been running successfully since 2005, was set up to give the area's young people a chance to make their voices heard on the matters that affect them.

This year's youth forum was no exception, with nearly 30 students from secondary schools and colleges across the South Lakes joining Mr Farron last Thursday. The young people discussed topics such as climate change, apathy, education and local transport.

Speaking after the youth forum, Mr Farron said: "I was blown away by the young people's innovative, straight-talking approach to the issues that came up. Their opinions were both incredibly useful and interesting to hear for me as their MP.

"This year's youth forum was proof that our young people really do care about politics."
