Young people behaving…well!

2 Nov 2006

Local MP Tim Farron will meet later today with the Grange Youth Group and the Crusader Youth Group. The groups aim to provide young people in Cumbria a chance to meet together constructively and safely, as well as combating the problem of anti-social behaviour in the area.

Speaking about the groups, Tim Farron said:

"I will be meeting with the Grange Youth Group to talk about ways in which I can help them to grow and succeed. What is even more important however is that meeting them will give them a chance to voice their concerns and tell me what more I should be doing to help them.

"Young people are not just interested in youth issues and we shouldn't pigeon hole them as such. Issues ranging from climate change to the local hospital closure affect young people as much as they do adults, so it is right that they should have the chance to discuss them with me.

"Later on Thursday I will be meeting with the Coniston Crusaders Youth Group at John Ruskin School, who have an excellent track record in this area. This will provide me with a good opportunity to learn how a successful youth project operates."
