We need real action, not more words on mental health - MP
Commenting on the news that the Chancellor is set to announce that £2bn of the £20bn NHS funding announced in the summer will be for mental health services, South Lakes MP Tim Farron said:
"Everything that's been announced today, I have been fighting for for the last several years. I am reluctant to give 'three cheers' though because we've heard all this before.
"The Government has already announced this money once earlier this year, and no new cash has appeared yet.
"In April 2016, the Government pledge £5m to ensure that we had a specialist eating disorder service for young people in Cumbria, two and a half years on and that service still doesn't exist.
"I want real change for the thousands of local people who struggle with mental health conditions, or who have a family member affected. On their behalf, I want real action - not more words."
