‘VILLAGE SOS’ COMPETITION COULD HELP BOOST SOUTH LAKES VILLAGES
Local MP Tim Farron is encouraging local villages in the South Lakes to think about putting themselves forward for this years 'Village SOS' show.
'Village SOS' is a joint initiative with the BBC and the Big Lottery Fund giving rural villages a chance to venture into new community enterprises and providing them with a new lease of life.
A fund of £5.3million will be shared between the winning applicant villages, with 250 awards available of between £10,000 and £30,000. The competition hopes to support ideas that will inspire and bring together rural communities as well as kick-starting new and exciting businesses.
Local MP Tim Farron has commented: ''This opportunity could give our enterprising local communities the help they need. On my recent summer tour I visited so many wonderful community schemes and I hope that they put themselves forward as I know £30,000 really could make a massive difference to some villages in the South Lakes."
