Time for ministers to take their fingers out of their ears and stop the cuts to Cumbria’s police - MP
Commenting on new figures from the Police Federation which show that nearly nine in ten officers feel that there isn't enough front-line staff to meet demand, local MP Tim Farron said:
"The Police Federation's findings sadly come as no surprise to anyone who has actually listened to what our local police officers have been saying over the past decade.
"Here in the South Lakes, our police are so short staffed that private security firms are patrolling our streets and handcuffing suspects.
"Ministers need to take their fingers out of their ears and actually accept that years of slashing police budgets is leaving officers and civilians more at risk."
