Tim Farron MP went to Settlebeck School yesterday, to meet with students and discuss his role as Westmorland and Lonsdale MP.

Tim was also shown the school's new 3D printer, a piece of equipment which links together digital design technology and manufacture. Tim commented that this will provide students with "exciting new opportunities" to be at the forefront of design technology.During the visit Tim discussed the issues facing the local area with a group of students. The students talked to Tim about the matters they would like to change in Sedbergh, raising in particular the idea of a skate park, as well as the issue of public transport to Kendal.

Commenting on his visit, Tim said: "It was fantastic to visit Settlebeck School. Having been to the school and talked to the pupils there, it was easy to see why Settlebeck School was recently given an 'outstanding' rating by the South Lakes Federation peer review.

"The students themselves had clearly thought a lot about their local area and had exciting ideas about how to improve it. I've no doubt that these young people will play an important part in shaping the future of their communities."
