Tim Farron to take on Great North Run to raise funds for Carer Support South Lakes
Next month, Cumbrian MP Tim Farron will take part in the Great North Run to raise money for local charity Carer Support South Lakes.
The organisation, which is based in Kendal, provide support to 1,350 unpaid carers in South Lakeland, ranging from carers aged as young as five to carers in their nineties.
There are 12,000 unpaid carers across Cumbria, many giving up their income, education, employment prospects or pension rights to care for a loved one, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Tim said: “There are so many selfless people across our community who give up so many hours caring for a loved one.
“The work that Carer Support South Lakes do in caring for our carers is so important – I’m absolutely delighted to be raising money for them.
“This will be my second time doing the Great North Run and I’m hoping to beat my previous time of 2 hours and 9 minutes – with the help of a bar of Kendal mint cake!”
Tim can be sponsored here.
