Tim Farron forward diary: 15th to 19th May
On Tuesday Tim will be attending a meeting of the Environmental Audit Committee. He will then go on to meet with constituents in Parliament, before meeting with Genworth Financials to discuss problems with a lack of affordable housing for first time buyers, and the role of mortgage insurance.
On Wednesday Tim will be attending a special meeting of the Environmental Audit Committee on the subject of Nuclear Waste Storage, with members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's Sub-Committee on Sustainable Development. He will then be attending Prime Minister's Question Time with Sir Menzies Campbell for Tony Blair's first PMQs since announcing the date of his departure.
On Thursday, as District Councillor for his Milnthorpe ward, Tim will be attending the annual meeting of South Lakeland District Council. The meeting is the first since the local elections on May the 3rd when the Liberal Democrats retained control of the council with an increased majority. In the evening, Tim will attend the inauguration of the Mayor of Kendal, Lib Dem councillor Gwen Murfin.
On Friday Tim will be returning to Westminster to speak in the debate on the Freedom of Information Bill which is being proposed by David Maclean, Conservative MP for Penrith and the Border. Mr Maclean's Bill would water down the way the Freedom of Information Act applies to Parliament.
On Saturday Tim will be holding one of his regular advice surgeries at Coniston Library from 10am to 11am. Next Tim will be opening the Natland Village Fete, as well as judging the fancy dress competition. He will then be joining in with the festivities at the Young Farmers Cumbria field day, followed by the Doodleshire Partnership Games at Gooseholme, Kendal.
