Local MP Tim Farron was given a grilling by pupils during a recent visit to St Mark's C of E Primary School in Natland, on issues ranging from Trump through to the local substation, and even about Burger King!

Tim visited the school on Friday and spoke to the whole school during an assembly, before meeting with the School Council afterwards. The pupils questioned Tim about a wide range of issues during a Q&A session.

Tim fielded questions about the recent election of Donald Trump, as well as his own role as an MP and how he balances his role in London with his work in the constituency. The pupils also asked about the potential expansion of the substation. Finally, the pupils also told Tim they want to see Burger King come to Kendal, so Tim has written to the chain to ask whether they have any plans to expand to the area!

Tim said: "I had a great time visiting St Mark's School in Natland, and it was fantastic to see the pupils' interest and enthusiasm. In young people like these, it is clear that the future of our community is in safe hands. They asked thoughtful questions that showed they cared about the future of their own community and beyond. We discussed issues ranging from local concerns about the substation through to Trump's election in the US, as well as more light-hearted issues like the possibility of a local Burger King branch!"
