South Lakes quality of life amongst best in North West
Local MP Tim Farron has welcomed a national report showing that the quality of life and wellbeing of South Lakes residents is amongst the highest in the North West and significantly above the national average.
The report released this week by the Office for National Statistics reveals that the life satisfaction of residents in the South Lakes is the joint second highest of any local authority in the North West, and is significantly above the average for the UK.
South Lakeland also scores considerably higher than both the national and regional average when it comes to the happiness of local residents, as well as how worthwhile they find their lives.
Local residents also enjoy amongst the lowest levels of anxiety in the North West, and significantly below the national average.
Tim said: "These figures are a ringing endorsement of the quality of life in our area, and won't come as a surprise to local residents. The last year has been a challenging one, with the impact of the floods hitting our communities hard, but the spirit of the people continues to shine through.
"My thanks go to all the fantastic individuals and community organisations which help make our area the place it is. I would also like to thank South Lakeland District Council, which works tirelessly to improve our area and support the wellbeing of local residents."
