Sedbergh Health Centre: 'Get on with it' says Farron
A packed public meeting last night gave their unanimous backing for plans to build a new local Health Centre in Sedbergh. South Lakes MP Tim Farron chaired the meeting at People's Hall, which was held in order to gage local opinion on revised plans for the site.
Around 250 local people turned out to discuss plans for a new Health Centre at the town's old auction mart site.
Mr Farron welcomed the overwhelming support for the proposal and called on the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to now "get on" with plans to build a new health centre in Sedbergh.
This morning Tim had a very positive discussion with the Chief Executive of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, David Butterworth. Tim made it clear that the community was determined that the new application should be approved.
Commenting Mr Farron said:
"Following last night's public meeting at the People's Hall, it's clear that the local community are overwhelmingly supportive of the project and appreciate how important it will be for the local community to be able build a new health centre in Sedbergh.
"Having won unanimous backing from the local community, we're now in the position to go to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority with the message that Sedbergh residents are behind the project and want to get on with building the new health centre in Sedbergh."
