New support grants must be made available to hospitality businesses in Tier 1 to save jobs in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales - MP

23 Oct 2020

Commenting on today's announcement from the Chancellor of support for hospitality businesses in Tier 2, Cumbrian MP Tim Farron said: "Judging by today's announcement, the Government seem to think that everything is hunky dory for hospitality businesses in Tier 1.

"But they have totally forgotten that our local hotels, restaurants, cafes and pubs are heavily reliant on visitors from Tier 3 for them to make a living.

"We urgently need to see the business grants for Tiers 2 and 3 extended to cover hospitality businesses here in Tier 1 so that jobs and businesses in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales don't fall off the cliff edge this winter."
