National park must follow Blencathra sale and keep Stickle Tarn in community hands - Farron
Following on from the news that Blencathra has been sold 'in principle' to a public action group, Tim Farron has called on the Lake District National Park (LDNPA) to do the same with iconic beauty spot Stickle Tarn.
Today it was announced that Blencathra could be heading into public ownership, following a community group's bid being accepted 'in principle'. Tim has called on the LDNPA to do the same with Stickle Tarn, but he has also used the opportunity to reiterate his call for them to ideally drop the sale altogether.
Tim has also called on the LDNPA to make sure any required remedial work is done, before Stickle Tarn is passed to a community group.
Tim said: "The Blencathra announcement is great news for community campaigners. I hope that the Lake District National Park will now follow suit with Stickle Tarn. They must listen to local people and keep this unique, beautiful site in public hands."
