South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that the Wi-Fi project for Kendal Town Centre has gone out to tender.

South Lakeland District Council is requesting quotes for the installation and maintenance of Wi-Fi across the main shopping routes in Kendal town centre. The submission deadline is 7pm on 24th February 2014.

The project will start in early May and will run for 2 years, Tim is hopeful that the scheme could be extended across Kendal and rolled out to other town centres in South Lakeland.

Further details about the tender can be found here: https://www.the-chest.org.uk/procontract/supplier.nsf/frm_opportunity?openForm&opp_id=OPP-HIS-NWCE-9FLQUT&contract_id=CONTRACT-NWCE-9FLPND&org_id=ORG-NWCE-7KGD87&from=#

Tim said: "Hearing that the town centre Wi-Fi plan has now gone out to tender is great news - I hope that lots of local businesses will apply to deliver the project. I am passionate to help Kendal and work with businesses to explore every opportunity possible. Town centre Wi-Fi is another small but important part of supporting our high street."
