MP welcomes new Post Office to Grasmere

Grasmere residents could have faced an eight-mile round trip to visit a post office when the old site closed last year-but that was averted when a new Post Office was announced for the village.

The new Post Office, which officially opens today, will be located in The Old Coach House on Stock Lane. Tim was delighted hear the new facility will be located close to the old premises, and will offer the same range of services, and will be accessible by wheelchair users. There will be parking nearby.

Commenting, Tim said: "I am delighted that Grasmere residents won't be deprived of their indispensible Post Office. An eight-mile round trip to Ambleside would have been expensive, time-consuming and inconvenient for Grasmere residents.

"The new facilities will give folk easy access to Post Office services, and provide a social hub for villagers to see each other, swap their news, and see friends. The Grasmere Post Office is indispensable and I am glad to see it remain."
