MP welcomes new deal to make Morecambe Bay safer
Tim Farron was the chief witness at the signing of a new agreement between Cumbria's Fire and Rescue Service and Bay Search and Rescue.
Bay Search and Rescue are a voluntary and charitable body based at Flookburgh who provide safety and rescue services to people using Morecambe Bay.
The new agreement means that Bay Search and Rescue will formally become part of the family of emergency services in the county - allowing their expertise and specialist equipment to be employed more often in the fight to keep Morecambe Bay safe for all its users.
Tim Farron witnessed the signing of the agreement between Bay Search and Rescue's Station Officer, Gary Parsons, and Callum Graham of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.
Tim said, "Bay Search and Rescue have real expertise and fantastic equipment to help with rescues on the Bay - its wonderful news that they have now formally linked up with the Fire and Rescue Service to make sure that Morecambe Bay is properly protected.
"It was an honour to be asked to witness the signing of this new agreement which will make the Bay a much safer place for work and leisure activities."
