South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed news that Sedbergh's new Medical practice is open for the first time today.

Work on the new Sedbergh Health Centre, began last year. The new building, which includes state of the art equipment and many treatment rooms will begin seeing patients from Monday. All staff from Sedbergh Medical Practice's old health centre, based in Loftus Hill, are moving into their new premises.

Tim supported Dr William Lumb, Dr Chrissie Hunt and Dr Philip Batty, the partners of Sedbergh Medical Practice who have fought hard for the centre after initial plans were refused.

Tim said: "All credit has to be given to the doctors who battled against many authorities to make this happen. It's absolutely fantastic to see it come together and the doors open for patients."
