South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today welcomed further news that the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust seems to have turned the corner.

Following unannounced inspection visits, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will announce tomorrow that Emergency Care Services at FurnessGeneralHospital and the Royal Lancaster Infirmary met all the essential standards of quality and safety inspected.

The CQC carried out the unannounced inspections at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary on 13 August 2012 and FurnessGeneralHospital on 14 August 2012.

Tim said: "This report is encouraging news. It shows the hard work going into turning around the trust is paying off. I want to pay tribute to the management, staff, doctors and nurses for their work. I will continue to work with others to keep the issue under review but this is very welcome news."
