MP WELCOMES LUNE VALLEY WINDFARM REJECTION AS A 'WIN FOR LOCAL DEMOCRACY'

16 Mar 2010

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today welcomed the decision of Lancaster City Council to reject the proposed wind farm in the Lune Valley.

The proposed site fell within the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Tim said: "I am delighted that Lancaster City Council has come to this decision. It is a vindication of the campaign we have run to make sure that the communities most affected by the wind farm were actively consulted and their opinions listened to loudly and clearly. Too much time is taken up with arguing the toss over small windfarm schemes - its time we turned our attention and devoted our energies to hydro schemes as the green route for power in Cumbria."
