MP welcomes Kendal town wi-fi switch on
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that Kendal Town Centre Wi-Fi has been switched on! Tim has also congratulated councillor Giles Archibald whom he praised for 'bringing the idea to fruition'.
Wi-Fi antennas will be installed at key locations in Kendal town centre and will be linked to each other via a wireless 'bridge'. These devices will provide Wi-Fi coverage along the main shopping routes of Kendal town centre which pedestrians will be able to connect to.
Users will be entitled to 2 hours free usage every day. Now live, it will be possible to alter this in line with usage and feedback to provide the best possible user experience.
Tim said: "I am passionate to help Kendal and work with businesses to explore every opportunity possible. Town centre Wi-Fi is another small but important part of supporting our high street.
I want to congratulate to Giles Archibald and the economic development team at South Lakeland District Council at for bringing this idea to fruition."
Giles Archibald added: "My sincere thanks to officers at SLDC for making this happen. We hope visitors and residents will make good use of it to make their time in Kendal more enjoyable. It is a pilot and we are keen to hear views on how we can improve."
