South Lakes MP Tim Farron has visited an historic Windermere hotel to see the work that is being carried out as part of a £1million upgrade.

Tim was shown around the Hydro Hotel in Windermere by General Manager Stefan Rae. The hotel, first opened in 1881, is currently undergoing a £1m refurbishment project, and is due to reopen on the 31st March.

Tim said: "It was impressive to see the work that is being carried out at the Hydro Hotel in Windermere. The hotel has been attracting visitors to the Lake District for over a hundred years, and it is clear that it has a bright future ahead following this upgrade. The newly-refurbished hotel is smart and modern, and will play an important part in the local tourist economy. I wish the Hydro Hotel all the best ahead of their official reopening on the 31st March."
