MP Visits The Queen Katherine School

Tim Farron - Liberal Democrat leader.

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron today visited The Queen Katherine School in Kendal, to take questions from pupils and participate in a drama project.

Tim spoke firstly to Year 8 students about his work as an MP, and took part in a Q&A session. He was asked a range of questions, from local issues about housing through to national and international issues such as the impact of the referendum. When asked about the most important thing he could do for the area, Tim answered that it was his role fighting for services at the hospital.

Tim then participated in a drama project being run by Sixth Form students. As part of their 'verbatim theatre' project about last winter's floods, the students interviewed Tim. His responses will then be used in the final production which will be performed in October.

Tim said: "I very much enjoyed my visit to Queen Katherine's today. The students asked interesting questions, and demonstrated real concern for their community and their future.

"It was also great to take part in the drama project which the Sixth Formers are organising. The floods were a devastating time for our area as residents lost their homes and businesses, but also brought out the best of our gritty Cumbrian spirit, as communities rallied around to look after those who were affected. This piece of theatre is an innovative way of reflecting on what happened and the lessons we can learn."
