South Lakeland MP Tim Farron visited Grasmere Primary School today to meet with pupils and the Chair of Governors.

Tim met with the students and found out about the latest project they are involved in - decorating a life-sized model of a Herdwick ewe. The Calvert Trust's 'Go Herdwick' Competition will see a flock of decorated life-sized Herdwick sheep placed in locations around the Lake District. The Calvert Trust has given one of these ewes to Grasmere Primary School, to be decorated by the pupils there.

Tim also met with the Chair of Governors and the Headteacher, to discuss the school's plans for the future.

Whilst in Grasmere Tim also appeared in a short promotional video, encouraging tourists to visit the area and insisting that it is "open for business" despite the closure of the A591.

Tim said: "It was great to meet the pupils at Grasmere Primary School today, and to learn about this exciting new project they are involved in. Herdwick sheep are an iconic symbol of our area, and I'm sure the pupils will do an excellent job of decorating their one."
