MP URGES NHS BOSSES TO SAVE HAVERTHWAITE SURGERY
After Haverthwaite surgery was served an eviction notice earlier this year, MP Tim Farron has formally asked the local NHS ICB to save the surgery, and is encouraging constituents to back the campaign. Tim met with patients when he visited the surgery itself, earlier this week.
Proposals have been made to the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to relocate the surgery to a new state of the art facility.
The rural surgery, serving about 2900 patients, was in a state of disrepair when the eviction notice was served.
An alternative option is to disperse current patients to other local surgeries which would subsequently add unnecessary pressure to services which are already struggling.
Tim said: “It is completely unacceptable to leave residents of Haverthwaite, Backbarrow, and the surrounding area, in the dark about the future of their surgery.
“To close this surgery with no replacement would be a tremendous loss to the local area and would have awful consequences for residents.
“Please encourage the ICB to relocate the surgery to a brand new facility by signing my petition and sharing with friends and family.”
