MP Tim dons waterproofs and helps residents fight floods

19 Nov 2009

South Lakes MP Tim Farron is out and about in waterproofs at flooding black-spots around the area to help local constituents and see for himself some of the problems being caused by today's weather.

Speaking this morning, Tim said: "My office has received a huge number of calls from residents concerned about the rising water levels. While today's weather is the worst we've had in some time, flooding is not unusual any longer.

"We've had some successes recently with projects like the Stock Beck Flood Relief Scheme now in place, but we need much more work to protect local homes from flooding in future. For today, though, I thought the best thing to do was to roll my sleeves up and help with the clean up."
