This morning South Lakes MP Tim Farron has tabled a parliamentary motion calling on the Post Office to bring back a service to Heversham.

Last week Tim wrote to Ms. Paula Vennells, the Chief Executive of the Post Office, asking them to look at his proposal. Tim then followed that up by using a phone call to lobby senior managers to ask if they can conduct a feasibility study to see if an outreach service can be brought back to village. Tim now has taken the campaign to Westminster and tabled a parliamentary motion backing the village bid.

The motion tabled today says: "That this House notes the importance of Post Office services to communities; further notes that access to these services is even more vital in rural areas; notes that many villages in the South Lakeland area already benefit from having a post office; and calls on Post Office Ltd to seriously consider bringing a Post Office service back to Heversham so that that area can share the same benefits."

Tim said: "Post Office services are vital and I am doing all I can to try and bring a local service back to the village. I hope that by stepping up our campaign it will help convince them to bring this service back to Heversham."
