Tim Farron MP yesterday visited local shop Williams' Wools in Kendal to help launch British Wool Week.

Wool Week runs from 15th-21st October and celebrates the best of wool across fashion, interiors and artisan communities. The Campaign for Wool is a global community of sheep farmers, retailers, designers, manufacturers and consumers. Taking part in this years Wool Week is Williams' Wools on Kirkland in Kendal. Adrienne Williams set the shop up in 2009 with the desire to bring wool and knitting groups to the local community. She stocks a large range of wools from natural fibres to local Alpaca wool as well as holding knit-alongs in the shop.

Commenting Tim said "I found it fascinating visiting Adrienne's shop yesterday and discovering how important wool is. Not only is it a natural fibre from a sustainable source but its also important for the local community. Adrienne stocks local wools and in turn supports the local farmers. It is also a wonderful shop for the community; it's a place for many to buy wool as well as come together for classes and knitting groups. The popularity of the shop was evident during my visit with many customers dropping in to what is an immensely welcoming and homely place."

"Wool is a vital material that can provide income as well as a pass-time for many. I think Wool Week is a brilliant initiative to celebrate the material but also highlights its importance to Cumbria in particular. We are rightly proud of our sheep farmers and we should be just as proud as those who use local wool in such an imaginative way."
