After news broke that Troutbeck Bridge Swimming Pool has gone into Administration local MP Tim Farron has pledged to do all he can to save the pool.

The pool has found trading increasingly difficult trading during recent times. Energy costs have been rising and user numbers have been consistently falling over the past year. The final straw seemed to paying utility bills.

The facility costs around £17,000 a month to run, but is still open from 3 till 8pm which is when 80% of current users attend.

Tim has been in conversations with South Lakeland District Council this morning and with Portfolio Holder for Communities and Wellbeing, Cllr Hilary Stephenson.

Commenting this morning Tim said:

"I think the pool has a bright future, I know the gym will help make a big difference in the future to cross-subsidise the pool. I am committed to doing all I can to save the Pool. I hope to bring everyone round the table to discuss a way forward. I will also be working with the Friends of Troutbeck Pool to see how I can help them too. There are two key ways that local people can help save the pool, one is to use it as a paying customer and the other is to join Friends of Troutbeck Pool and help provide valuable funds. I urge local people to get on board and help save this vital local asset."
