MP secures Parliamentary debate on bus services in Cumbria
Local MP Tim Farron will lead a debate in Parliament next Tuesday on the future of rural bus services in Cumbria.
It comes as a new report from The Campaign for Better Transport found that more than 3,000 bus services in Britain have been lost or reduced in the past decade, after Government slashed funding by nearly £400 million.
Tim said: "There can be no doubt that the decline in bus services over the past 10 years has been devastating for towns and villages across Cumbria.
"On Tuesday I look forward to making the case that, if the Government really cares about tackling the climate emergency, dealing with rural isolation and making the Northern Powerhouse truly Northern, they will look at a new deal for bus services in Cumbria."
