MP’s summer tour a “Huge Success”
As local MP Tim Farron's annual summer tour comes to a close he has hailed this year's tour as a 'huge success'.
Tim has visited nearly 40 towns and villages - fromGrasmerein the north to Arnside in the south and Dent in the east to Coniston in the west - in the past two weeks, as part of his annual summer surgery tour.
This is the seventh time Tim - who regularly spends time out in the constituency meeting local residents - has held his summer tour.
He spends the fortnight visiting villages and towns, talking to constituents and acting on local issues and concerns. This year's tour saw a great turn-out of constituents, who brought forward issues from the funding of community hydro schemes, to car-parking costs and the need for more affordable housing in the South Lakes
Tim said: "It was fantastic meeting so many constituents and visiting the beautiful villages and towns of my constituency. People can feel isolated from parliament, and I love getting to speak to them about the issues they care about and that can make their lives better. That is why I got into politics and that is why I love doing the summer tour. A huge thank you to everyone who came out - often braving dismal weather! - to speak to me!"
