South Lakes MP Tim Farron has raised over £5,500 for St John's Hospice after he ran the Great Langdale half marathon on Saturday.

St John's Hospice provides free palliative care to patients with life shortening conditions in the South Lakes, North Lancashire and parts of North Yorkshire.

Tim completed the tricky 13 mile fell race in two hours and 16 minutes.

Tim said: "I want to say a big, big thank you to everyone who sponsored me to run the Great Langdale half marathon.

"The weather was utterly abysmal, but I still loved every minute of it!

"I'm absolutely over the moon that we were able to raise over £5,500 for St John's Hospice to help support their amazing work providing care for loved ones.

"It just goes to show that, even when times are really tough, the generosity and kindness of people here in the South Lakes is incredible."
