MP’s delight as future of Goodly Dale GP practice is secured
Local MP Tim Farron has warmly welcomed this afternoon's news that Cumbria Health On Call (CHOC) have been awarded a permanent contract to run Goodly Dale Health Centre in Windermere.
The future of the surgery was placed in doubt after the previous provider, Leeds-based private company OneMedical, decided to give notice on their contract.
Back in February, CHOC were given a temporary six-month contract by Morecambe Bay CCG for Goodly Dale, after efforts to find a long-term provider were unsuccessful.
But today the surgery's long-term future was secured after CHOC were awarded a permanent contract.
Commenting on the news, Tim said: "I'm absolutely over the moon that Cumbria Health on Call have been awarded a permanent contract for running Windermere's Goodly Dale GP surgery.
"From the regular conversations I've been having with CHOC, I know how hard their team has been working to provide first-class care for local patients.
"There had been some pressure on the CCG to close the surgery and disperse the patients lists to other surgeries in the South Lakes, so I'm really grateful that they've listened to local residents, local councillors and myself and have secured the future of Goodly Dale."
