Tim is campaigning to save Sedbergh Delivery Office

Last night in the House of Commons, local MP Tim Farron presented a petition to stop Royal Mail from closing Sedbergh Delivery Office.

The campaign was launched by Tim and local councillors Hazel Hodgson, Ian Mitchell and Suzie Pye back in September and has gained well over a thousand petition signatures.

Currently, Sedbergh Post Office receives a third of its income by renting the delivery office out to Royal Mail.

There are fears that moving the delivery office threatens the viability of the post office, and the outreaches it runs in Endmoor, Dent and Barbon.

Last week, Tim met with representatives from Royal Mail and urged them to back down over their plans.

Tim said: "I'm massively grateful to everyone who has signed the petition calling for Sedbergh Delivery Office to be saved.

"Our local post offices in Sedbergh, Endmoor, Dent and Barbon are massively important services - it would be a tragedy if they were forced to closed as a result of this cloth-eared move."
