MP praises school after it scoops national award
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today heralded the achievements of Dallam School in Milnthorpe after they won a national award for languages.
The British Academy awarded Dallam the National Prize for encouraging innovative and creative foreign language teaching.
The British Academy Schools Language Awards are given to projects that promote language learning by finding creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching and motivating students.
Prize winners have been selected for having motivational projects, supporting teaching and learning of languages including Chinese, Arabic, French, Spanish and Gujarati.
Previously Dallam had won the Bilingual tutor groups award for French and Spanish.
Tim said: "I congratulate Steve Holdup, the staff and students at Dallam for their work and for winning this award. The award is testament to their hard work at imbedding languages within the curriculum - Dallam have become national leaders in language education, something we are really proud of. A really well deserved award!
"In South Lakeland we are so lucky to have so many fantastic local primary and secondary schools. The award Dallam won is just another example amongst many highlighting the fantastic work of our schools and teachers in the Lakes."
