MP: Police guidance on exercise changes nothing - we must continue to stay at home to save lives

17 Apr 2020

Commenting on new guidance from the National Police Chiefs' Council about what counts as a "reasonable excuse" to be out and about during the coronavirus lockdown, South Lakes MP Tim Farron said: "It's absolutely critical that this clarification is not used for people to travel to the Lake District this weekend.

"The truth is nothing has changed. We are still in the middle of a major pandemic and preventing the spread of this virus has to be at the forefront of our minds in everything we do.

"Instead of looking for loopholes, we should be asking ourselves are we doing all that we can to protect the NHS and save lives.

"As we've said time and time again, the Lake District will still be here when this is all over - let's make sure our loved ones are too."
